Laura Heim presented to an audience of 200 at the 2017 AIA National Conference in Orlando on April 28th. The session: From Sunnyside to Seaside, Garden Suburb to New Urbanism additionally featured renowned urban designer / architect Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk and urban historian Jeffrey Kroessler. The presentation covered the history of garden suburbs and new urbanism emphasizing characteristics common to walkable communities. Many of Laura Heim’s restoration projects in the neighborhood of Sunnyside Gardens were including to illustrate the challenges of preserving planned communities.
