This lobby and ground floor renovation, in a senior affordable housing building located adjacent to Cooper Square in Manhattan, will include a new ceiling and lighting throughout as well as a relocated guard desk area. JASA (Jewish Association Serving the Aging), one of New York’s largest non-profit agencies serving older adults in New York City, previously hired Heim Architect to complete the re-envisioning of the circulation spaces for all 14 floors of this building. Now in the lobby and adjacent spaces, the new ceiling grid will provide slender linear light fixtures and textured accent panels at key locations such as at the entry, elevators, and mailboxes. The design of the guard desk area follows the prototype Heim Architect developed for JASA in 2020 which has already been implemented in three of their facilities. The guard now greets those entering at the vestibule for greater security as well as a better circulation flow in the lobby. The new ceiling will improve wayfinding and provide brighter spaces.
