JFK Terminal 4 Renovation and Expansion

Jamaica, Queens, NY

Program: Airport Terminal Expansion
Area: 1.5 million sf
Status: Construction Documents 2021; Construction Administration 2022-2023

As part of the larger team led by Gensler, Laura Heim Architect collaborated on the renovation and expansion of Terminal 4 at John F Kennedy Airport. Given the firm’s recent work revitalizing the streetscapes of downtown Jamaica, we were particularly pleased to be contributing to another public space in Jamaica, at a much larger scale, which functions as the entry to New York City from around the world. With work on the final design phases completed, we assisted in Construction Documents and Construction Administration with project coordination and review. Laura Heim’s past transportation experience includes an addition to the Portland International Airport in Portland, Oregon, as part of the technical staff of Zimmer Gunsul Frasca (ZGF) early on in her long career and her more recently as Project Manager for the final phase of the Long Island Railroad Terminal in Brooklyn. She also was the lead designer for the team completing the conceptual design for the Dulles Metro Extension in Northern Virginia. We were honored to work with Gensler on this significant aviation project.
