Laura Heim designed site options and participated in a panel discussion to study and explore the potential redevelopment of the St. Paul’s Church Complex located on Grace Avenue in Great Neck Plaza Village. Invited to complete the schematic design study by the Great Neck Plaza Village Historical Preservation Commission, the firm prepared five options for the site which addressed the three existing historic structures: church, parish house and rectory, while accommodating new housing and parking. The study, presented to the village, including the mayor and commissioners, emphasized preserving the low street scale, exploring the opportunities of the existing sloped site, and creating positive spaces between the buildings with courtyards and landscape.
